Leading with Purpose: Gaby Morales ’26 Champions Sustainability Across Campuses
When Upper School student Gaby Morales ’27 noticed the growing issue of textile waste in her community, she decided to take action. Through her participation in the Rustic Pathways Climate Leader Fellowship program, Gaby learned that both Miami-Dade County landfills are nearing capacity, an alarming reality that inspired her to find a local solution.
After months of research and planning, Gaby partnered with Goodwill Industries to bring donation bins to our Marian C. Krutulis PK-8 Campus and Upper School Campus. Her goal is to help keep clothing and textiles out of landfills while giving them a second life through reuse.
“I think it’s really important for Gulliver students to understand the importance of utilizing these Goodwill bins in order to establish sustainable habits on our campuses,” Gaby said. “I hope this project reminds students that their voices are significant and that meaningful change can happen when you combine research with passion.”
Through this initiative, Gaby has deepened her understanding of environmental issues and strengthened her communication and leadership skills. She has discovered the power of her voice to create lasting impact within her community.

When asked what advice she’d give to classmates hoping to make a difference, Gaby shared, “Research a passion that interests you. Find specific ways that issue shows up in your community and start reaching out to specialists in the field.”
Gaby’s work reflects what it means to choose generosity and grow into greatness, inspiring others to act with purpose and help shape a more sustainable future.
