That spirit is at the heart of the Torch Society, introducing our planned giving program recognizing parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends who have chosen to include Gulliver in their estate plans, including bequests, charitable trusts, beneficiary designations from retirement accounts or life insurance, or gifts of assets such as real estate. The Torch Society provides a thoughtful, flexible way to make a lasting impact on generations of students to come.

Members of our community have already committed more than $2 million in planned gifts, helping carry Gulliver’s tradition of excellence forward for generations of students.

Pamela Silva P ‘38 has made a planned gift, extending her support for Gulliver well beyond her family’s time at the school.

“A planned gift is not simply about giving in the future; it is about making a statement today about what you value and what you want to continue long after you are gone,” Silva said. “If this gift can help preserve Gulliver’s tradition of excellence and positively impact generations of students we may never meet, that is a legacy we would be proud to leave behind.”

For Garlin Lewis, the decision is deeply personal. She has included a bequest to Gulliver in her Will in memory of her late son, Cole, a Class of 1983 alumnus.

“Gulliver allowed Cole to reach his potential at his own pace and provided him a sense of belonging in which he developed friendships that lasted throughout his life,” Lewis said. “My gift will allow future students to receive the same opportunities to achieve academic success as the school afforded my son to grow and flourish.”

Another current family with two children in Primary School chose a blended giving approach, pairing a major gift today with a planned gift.

“Gulliver has meant so much to our family. We wanted to give back now and through our estate plans,” said Lindsay and Waldo Saville P ‘41 ‘42. “For us, it is a meaningful way to see our generosity at work during our lifetime and leave a legacy that continues beyond it.”

Through The Next 100:The Centennial Campaign for Gulliver, these gifts support the people, programs, and spaces shaping our school’s future, strengthening teaching and learning while enriching the student experience and preparing every child to thrive in a changing world.

Members of the Torch Society receive recognition for their commitments, invitations to special gatherings, and opportunities to remain connected to Gulliver and the difference their commitments make.
