2024 Robotics team The Upper School’s FIRST® Robotics team wrapped up another successful season, participating in three competitions from Florida to Alabama.

In early March, the BB-R8RS advanced to the finals at the South Florida Regional, competing against 39 teams. After a tough fight that went into triple overtime, they took second place, also winning the Industrial Design Award for their robot that was deemed functional, fast, and simplistic in its design.

At the FIRST® Robotics Orlando Regional later that month, the BB-R8RS again placed second, going all the way into the finals undefeated. They suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss at the hands of the number one team in Florida, finishing as a finalist out of 70 other teams – a feat that had never before been accomplished at Gulliver.

This past weekend, April 3-6, the BB-R8RS traveled to Huntsville, Alabama, for the Rocket City Regional. They were able to rank seventh before the qualifying matches but later fell in a two vs. three matchup by only three points. The team won their second Industrial Design Award for a well-designed robot.
