By way of a rigorous audition process, six Gulliver Prep students earned Florida Music Education Association’s (FMEA) All-State recognition. Once a student is chosen as an All-State selection, they become ranked as one of the top musicians in the state of Florida. These standout musicians rehearsed and performed at the 2023 FMEA Convention in Tampa alongside their peers:

  • Josh Achenbaum ‘27 – All-State Middle School Jazz Band (Saxophone)
  • Salomon Bibas ‘23 – All-State High School Concert Chorus
  • Kate Brewer ‘24 – All-State High School Concert Chorus
  • Kaveen Chainani ‘26 – All-State Men’s Chorus
  • Thomas Kellogg ‘27 – All-State Middle School Mixed Chorus
  • Julia Witherspoon ‘25 – All-State High School Concert Chorus

Two standout faculty members received high honors at the convention, including Edgar Rubio, Middle School Band Director, who was selected as Conductor of the 2023 Florida All-State Middle School Jazz Ensemble. Mr. Rubio and Robert Keating, Upper School Music Director, were both recognized with a 25 Year+ Music Education Service Award, as well as the Florida Band Association’s (FBA) Linda Mann Five Year Superior Award and the Jazz Band Five-Year Superior Award.
