Ivan Pankov '24

Gulliver Preparatory School is proud to announce that Ivan Pankov ‘24 has been selected as a National Merit Scholarship winner.

This year’s 2,500 Merit Scholar designees were chosen from a talented pool of more than 15,000 outstanding Finalists. Winners are the Finalists in each state judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The number of winners named in each state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the nation’s graduating high school seniors.

Earlier this year, Ivan earned Finalist recognition along with Daniel Hagenlocker ‘24, Raissa Almeida Miglioli ‘24, and Sebastian Prusky ‘24. In September 2023, these four students were honored as Semifinalists, as they were among the 16,000 highest scorers of the 1.3 million October 2022 PSAT/NMSQT test takers. In turn, the foursome was among less than 1% of the nation’s high school graduating seniors invited to apply for Finalist standing.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance, was founded in 1955 specifically to conduct the National Merit Scholarship Program. The majority of scholarships offered each year are underwritten by approximately 340 independent corporate and college sponsors that share NMSC’s goals of honoring scholastically talented youth and encouraging academic excellence at all levels of education.
