Matthew Bartel ‘27 Receives Princeton Club Service Award

Gulliver is proud to announce that Matthew Bartel ‘27 has received the 2026 Gail Serota ’75 Service Award from the Princeton Club of South Florida, recognizing his extraordinary commitment to civic service and student-led impact.
Presented annually to a South Florida high school student demonstrating exceptional dedication to service, the award honors Matthew’s leadership across humanitarian outreach, environmental health research, literary advocacy, and community mentorship. At just 14 years old, Matthew founded Our World of Hope, Inc., a nonprofit organization created in response to the war in Ukraine. Since then, the organization has expanded its reach to more than 27,000 young people across six countries through initiatives connected to Save the Children, UNICEF, and SaveUkraine.
Matthew also serves as Florida Youth Poet Laureate and a National Youth Poet Laureate Ambassador, using poetry and storytelling to encourage young people to engage with their communities and recognize the power of their voices. His work additionally includes environmental health research focused on air quality conditions at Miami International Airport, helping bring renewed awareness to concerns affecting airport workers and travelers.
At Gulliver, Matthew is an active member of the Academic Honor Council, Student Ambassadors program, and Dish Out Kindness. Across each of his efforts, he has focused on building initiatives that empower younger students to lead with purpose and create lasting impact.
The Gail Serota ’75 Service Award reflects Princeton University’s commitment to service and leadership, recognizing students whose work demonstrates meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.
