At Gulliver Prep, students have access to an academic opportunity unmatched by any other school in Miami-Dade County: a full-tuition dual-enrollment partnership with the University of Miami. This unique program allows students to take university-level courses while still in high school, gaining a head start on their college journey at no additional cost. Students may also expand their studies through summer courses at Miami Dade College, further broadening their academic horizons.

Through the program, eligible students begin coursework in their senior year or the summer before, with the support of Gulliver’s College Counseling Office. From Organic Chemistry and Multivariable Calculus to Music Theory, American Government, and courses in UM’s Film, Music, and Business schools, participants explore subjects beyond the scope of the traditional high school curriculum. Admission is selective, reserved for Gulliver’s strongest academic candidates, and students must maintain a grade of B or higher to remain in the program.

The impact is transformative, and the benefits extend far beyond credits earned. Students gain first-hand experience with the pace and rigor of university coursework, building confidence and demonstrating to colleges that they can succeed at the highest level. They learn to manage their time independently, balancing the expectations of two institutions, and they step into the rhythm of college life while still in high school. For many, the impact is transformative. Elisa Tarac ’25, for example, took Organic Chemistry over the summer, an experience that helped her secure an internship with the Jha Lab in the Department of Neuroscience at UM. Another recent grad, Neleesh Pandey ’25, completed Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus through the program, allowing him to skip those requirements as he begins his studies at Yale.

This a one-of-a-kind opportunity represents more than a head start on college—it is an extraordinary chance to push their intellectual boundaries, explore new passions, and embrace the future while still in high school.
