The Gulliver Prep Debate Team proudly represented the school at the 2025 National Debate Coaches Association (NDCA) National Championship, held from April 11-15 at Marist School in Atlanta, Georgia. This prestigious tournament brought together the top 200 student debaters from 40 leading debate programs across the country, all of whom qualified through outstanding performances at competitions throughout the year.
This year’s resolution challenged students to argue the topic: “Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its investment in domestic nuclear energy.” Competing at this elite level, Gulliver debaters Nabeel Ishoof ’26 and Tamara Santoyo Geijo ’26 delivered exceptional performances, finishing seventh in the nation—a remarkable achievement that reflects months of preparation, critical thinking, and dedication.
Debate Coaches Robert Holmes and Gabby Smith expressed immense pride in their students’ hard work and determination. “We are extremely proud of the effort and resilience demonstrated by our entire debate team,” they shared. “This achievement is a testament to their commitment to excellence, and we are grateful for the continued support from our administration, teachers, and parents, who help make success like this possible.”
