Our Middle School sports teams have wrapped up the 2023-24 winter season, turning in excellent performances in and out of the classroom. The combined team grade average for winter season teams was an incredible 92.12, led by the girls’ basketball team (93.25) and the boys’ JV soccer team (91.53). In addition to these impressive academic achievements, the Raiders had great success in the South Florida Middle School Conference (SFMSC). Read on to learn more.


Boys’ Varsity Soccer – CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS

The boys’ varsity soccer team had an outstanding season with an undefeated 12-0 record. Not only did they have an incredible regular season, they also won the South Florida Middle School Conference (SFMSC) Championship! All of the student-athletes put in the work, trained hard, and made the most of their opportunities. This season represented the true meaning of teamwork and dedication. Coach Miranda said, “All of the players on this team should be very proud of themselves and their accomplishments. It shows how much they love this game and we are so excited for what’s next.”

Girls’ Varsity Soccer – CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS

The varsity girls’ soccer team finished the 2023-24 season as SFMSC Champions! This team built an incredible team culture that was evident in every match, and their hard work culminated in a well-deserved championship victory. The roster of 22 players consisted of 13 eighth graders that set the tone, led by example, and carved their path to success through hard work and dedication to each other. Congratulations to our team awards winners: MVP (Most Valuable Player) – Ariana Sagrera ’28; Raider Award – Camilla Dresner ’28; DPOY (Defensive Player of the Year) – Isabella Damas ’28; OPOY (Offensive Player of the Year) – Ava Gabay ‘29. Coach Adam Govin says, “A huge thank you to the entire Athletic Department, athletic trainers, and parents for their tremendous support this season, helping us coaches and players succeed to our fullest potential.”

Boys’ Varsity Basketball – CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS

The boys’ varsity basketball team ended the season with a stellar record of 12-3 and winning the South Florida Middle School Conference Championship. The season was highlighted by all of the hard work that the team put in during practices and games. Each player experienced an immense amount of growth both on and off the court. The team was led by the outstanding leadership of Nico Leal ‘28. Coach Gordon is thrilled with the success of the season and is so proud of these student-athletes.

Girls’ Basketball – CONFERENCE SEMIFINALIST

The girls’ basketball team finished with a great record of 6-2. The team is young and full of so much potential. Head Coach Ana Sol says, “The improvement and dedication throughout the season was incredible to see. Each one of the players improved in so many different ways and all individually fell in love with the sport. The best part of this team was to see how all of our student-athletes grew as a family. What started off as teammates ended as a close-knit team of individuals who share the same passion for basketball.” The team finished as SFMSC semifinalists. We are so excited for what’s to come!

Cheerleading

Our Middle School Cheer squad cheered on our boys’ and girls’ basketball teams this winter season, showing so much Raider pride and spirit at both home and away games. The squad has also started to prepare for the upcoming competition season, as these athletes hope to defend their record once again, and become three-time National Champions!

Boys’ JV Soccer

The boys’ JV soccer team had a very successful season with an impressive 8-1 record. The team had great chemistry and trained hard each and every day. Head Coach Eduardo Guerrero said, “This season was just fantastic. I enjoyed working with our student-athletes and loved being a member of the Raider staff once again. Our players demonstrated remarkable growth from the first game to the last, exhibiting all of the hard work put in at practice and growth from competition.” The future of boys’ soccer is extremely bright and they cannot wait for next season!

Girls’ JV Soccer

The girls’ JV soccer season began with a slow start, 0-2 after the first two games. Throughout the season the players learned how to communicate and work as a unit on the field. With two big wins against Palmer Trinity and a shutout win over Westminster Christian, the players entered the final game of the season with confidence and enthusiasm! Our student-athletes scored a total of 21 goals and closed the season with a 4-4 record. This team saw so much progression from start to finish as they practiced with determination to always improve and grow. We are excited for this team to keep playing and to see what’s in store for our girls’ soccer program.

Boys’ JV Basketball

The boys’ JV basketball team finished the season with a fantastic 9-1 record, with their only loss coming in a 37-35 defeat versus Belen Jesuit. The team’s biggest game of the year was a 20-point season-ending win over rival Ransom Everglades. Sam Davis led the team in scoring this season with an average of 9.5 points per game and Anthony Tucker added 8.5 points and six rebounds per game. Head Coach Jay Zambolla is so proud and we look forward to seeing these players continue to grow and develop.
