This school year, the Marian C. Krutulis PK 8 Campus welcomed students into the newly remodeled Dias Library, a vibrant space designed to spark curiosity and a lifelong love of reading. Renovated last summer, the library has quickly become a favorite gathering place for our youngest learners and a cornerstone of early literacy on campus.

The re-dedication of the space became a full circle moment for Gulliver alumni and community leaders Alain Dias ‘93 and Anne Dias Griffin ‘88, who visited campus this year alongside their mother Rosemarie Dias.

Representing both legacy and possibility, the library is named in honor of Rosemarie Dias, a retired faculty member who served as a librarian and French teacher. Originally hired by Mrs. Marian C. Krutulis, Rosemarie’s legacy at Gulliver is one of empathy and compassion for her students as they discovered new ideas and passions through reading.

“For as long as I can remember, books have been the way my family journeys across time, across borders, and into other people’s lives. To see our name on its doors is to see our mother’s spirit living on, inviting each new student to discover the joy of reading,” said Anne. “If this library can help nurture that sense of curiosity and wonder, it will have fulfilled its most important mission.”

This year alone, students on the Marian C. Krutulis PK-8 Campus have checked out 40% more books from the Dias Library than last year, a powerful reflection of how inspiring spaces can nurture curiosity and engagement.

During their visit, the Dias family spent time with students, read aloud to a class, and left with renewed excitement for Gulliver’s mission and its commitment to shaping the next generation.

“I think of education as both a lift and a compass,” said Anne. “Our support for Gulliver reflects this conviction, that a strong school does more than prepare students for college and career — it helps set them on the path to becoming engaged citizens, the kind you would want as your neighbors and colleagues, and one day, your leaders.”

As Gulliver looks ahead to its next century of impact, the Dias Library will be part of the journey of every student who visits. With nearly 1,000 students at the Marian C. Krutulis PK-8 Campus each year, the Dias Library is poised to impact many lives for years to come.
