Victoria Figueroa ’24 Participates in Florida House of Representative Page and Messenger Program

Eighth-grader Victoria Figueroa participated in the Florida House of Representative Page and Messenger Program.

Victoria A. Figueroa ’24 recently participated in the Florida House of Representative Page and Messenger Program in Tallahassee.

Program participants have the opportunity to observe lawmakers, lobbyists, staff, and constituents working together in the legislative process, attending committee meetings, House sessions in the Chamber, and occasionally press conferences with notable people.

Over the course of one week, Victoria learned about the legislative process and had the opportunity to meet with key leaders like the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, Jose Oliva, and Senate President, Bill Galvano. Sponsored by Representative Heather Fitzenhagen from Ft. Myers, Victoria even led the Pledge of Allegiance during session, and was able to tour the Florida Supreme Court and Florida Capitol.

A pair of Upper School students completed the Florida Legislature’s Page and Messenger Program in the Spring of 2019, as Kelly Ann Cosentino ’19 took part on the Senate side and Catalina Munoz ’20 participated in the House of Representatives. Read more here.
