Diego is a Venezuelan filmmaker, recognized for his work as a writer, director, co-producer, and editor. His debut feature film, “Simón” was chosen to represent Venezuela in the 38th Goya Awards, was showcased at the Marché du Film at Cannes and is currently in the top 10 on Netflix international and charting on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Simón” is a drama that follows the story of a young Venezuelan protester, Simón, who, after being arrested and tortured during protests in his home country, flees to Miami seeking asylum. The film explores his difficult decision whether to stay in Miami or return to Venezuela.
Vicentini’s work has gained attention for addressing significant issues such as political repression and the struggles of asylum seekers. We are thrilled to be welcoming Diego to speak with us about his journey and work at our Raiders Alumni Networking Lunch on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. We hope to see you there!
