A Tribute to
Ms. Gerri Barreras
It was impossible not to see, feel, and admire Ms. Gerri’s dedication to Gulliver and to serving her community. Ms. Gerri founded the dance program in 1996 and taught tens of thousands of students over her almost three decades at our school. In addition to her dedication to Gulliver, she was deeply committed to serving her greater community, providing Dance Movement Therapy training for at-risk youth at local hospitals.
As a tribute to Ms. Gerri’s legacy and impact on our community, we look forward to naming a space in her honor in the new Arts Center. We invite you to join us in these efforts by making a gift in her memory.
Providing Opportunities for Future Generations

Instilling a Love for the Arts
Ms. Gerri embodied what it means to be a Gulliver Raider and her loss is felt within our entire community. She was a force, as well as the leader of our Dance Program, and also of the larger Performing Arts Program. She fostered the growth of her students, while instilling in them a love for not only dance but all of the arts.
A Transformational Leader
Ms. Gerri led many Sundancers teams to local, state, and national competitions, provided her dancers with opportunities to learn from industry leaders, and mentored them as students and later as alumni. Her passion similarly shaped her vision as the Performing Arts Department Chair. She was excited about the announcement of our new Arts Center, a building that, in her words, will allow us to foster and build a deeper sense of collaboration amongst our performing arts students.
